The Diploma in Teaching is specifically designed to meet the rigorous standards required for FE professionals. Updated every eight years to ensure relevance, this qualification equips you with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the classroom. With a one-year completion timeline, which culminates with a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching, graduates can then pursue the application process for QTLS.
This is done through an application process called “Professional formations” with SET (Society for Education and Training).
This can be the non-university route for mature individuals for whom the PGCE and another year or two in university may not be appealing.
By government standards, the QTLS allows for more flexibility in where you want to teach especially individuals what professional or vocational qualifications because although designed for post-16, headteachers from primary and secondary schools welcome QTLs holders as well.
