What Does the Qualification Cover?

It prepares learners to become classroom assistants, focusing on education from foundation to Key Stage 4, including support for special needs.
This course covers specialist support areas such as planning, delivering, and reviewing assessment strategies, providing bilingual and special needs support, and fostering personal development through reflective practice. It is a key qualification for those pursuing the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning Apprenticeship. Each student is assigned an assessor for personalised observation and support. The 53-credit qualification, accredited by NCFE Cache, includes 3-hour weekly blended training covering numeracy, literacy, behaviour management, communication, health and safety, and child protection

How Will I Be Assessed?

Assessment for the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning involves a variety of methods to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of your skills. You will complete group presentations, written tasks, and recorded discussions. At the end of the course, you will submit a detailed portfolio of evidence demonstrating that you have met the assessment criteria of the taught units. Additionally, you will undergo eight one-hour observations of your teaching practice to assess your competency and adherence to teaching standards.

Course Requirements and Support

To successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning, students must fulfil a compulsory placement requirement of a minimum of 150 hours. This essential hands-on experience will be provided by SCCD Training, ensuring practical application of skills in primary, secondary, or special schools. Alongside the placement, students will receive a comprehensive guide outlining the requirements for the course, including detailed instructions for the placement, course expectations, and interview preparation. This guide is designed to support you throughout your training, helping you meet all necessary criteria for successful completion of the qualification.
